Kundalini and Divine Openings

Cautions About Kundalini Combined With Divine Openings

Divine Openings quickly and without effort causes kundalini to rise up the spine, without all the years of rigorous yoga and spiritual practices. Kundalini rising is a key component of the enlightenment process. Kundalini is essentially life force, a mystical spiritual energy that rises from the base chakra to the crown chakra, and flows back down the front of the body in a circular fashion. It is a very powerful physical phenomenon, and may be characterized by intense heat, a feeling of oneness with everything, being lit up, buzzed, or blissed out.

Many of you are already quite revved up since doing Divine Openings. Kundalini students and teachers are trying to get what Divine Openings gives you. If you speed up the kundalini flow too much, it can be too much for the body and nervous system to handle. I omit the fire breath when I do kundalini.

I don't need any more fire! I am already on fire with constant creativity and energy. I want to expand the pipes to accomodate the flow that is already gushing through me from Divine Openings, and futher expand the pipes to allow the increased flow that is always increasing since Divine Openings! I can do fire breath while sitting still without over-revving, but in camel pose or while doing movement, it over-revs me. So I don't do it! Feel your body, go easy, and use common sense.

So when you do kundalini practices on the DVD I recommend at right, or in a live class, do it with the intention to release resistance, not to amp up your energy, unless you can handle the increased flow with ease. Do easy, smooth breaths. Breathe for pleasure and never push it. Kundalini teachers may not understand if you don't need to bring up more kundalini, and may push you to do the fire breath or other kundalini-increasing practices. You might want to tell them you are there to smooth the flow of kundalini you already have flowing, not to increase it, and that you will listen to your own body.

Just as you would not ride a horse faster than you can safely handle it, be sensible about building your energy. Always build your energy up only as fast as you can release resistance to the flow. In other words, don't ask for more powerful energy, ask for release of resistance TO that energy flow. Don't ask for more flow, ask for expanded pipes.

In practical terms, if you pump up your energy to a speed faster than you can let it flow, you might experience over-revving, frustration, rage, physical pain, mental instability, and other difficulties. People like Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison (and any super high energy people you can think of who flamed out) amped up their energy more than they could release resistance to the flow..... and it blasted them out of their bodies.

Mick Jagger, and Bono of U2, on the other hand, have been able to let unbelievable amounts of energy flow through them for decades, without burning out. They let it flow without too much resistance. I'm deliberately using rock stars as examples to demonstrate that high-energy people with a huge life force are not at all limited to spiritual stereotypes, saints, and gurus. (Bono has always been spiritual in his own way, and Jagger has become more spiritually oriented with age.)

Life force is life force, however it's expressed, and The Divine doesn't give it only to gurus and saints. It is offered to everyone, whether they ever become "spiritual" or not. There is not judgment.
